Ladies Continue Good Form

Another brilliant result from the weekend's Wycombe Ladies meet against Scots Hill on Sunday evening. After some coaching from Mike the team, made up of Hannah, Anna, Katie and Helen, were all playing much more consistantly with some really good defensive play.

The opposition were much more competitve than the first meeting and gave our team a bit more work with a couple of rubbers going to deciders. But the overall result was another 6-0 to Beaconsfield - have they set a standard now! No pressure girls....  Well done all.

No Fireworks Tonight

The Chalfont Mixed team meeting up at Loudwater Boys Club on Monday 5th November were Andrew H and Helen, Keith and Ros and Baneesh and Julie. They were up against Wooburn Monday, a club that they have yet to beat.

And it would seem that it will stay that way until the next opportunity  to play (January 2013). There was some strong play particularly from Keith and Ros who came close in two of their rubbers which went to deciders, but each time the opposition just managed to take those vital final points.

Big thanks to Baneesh, who continued to play despite pulliing muscle in his leg just before the final rubber, and he and Julie insisted on taking that to a decider too. But once again Wooburn clinched the win. The only win of the evening for the Chalfont Mixed was taken by Andrew and Helen, who managed to stave off a complete whitewash.

The resultant 8-1 win to Wooburn does not reflect the level of play. Well done team, great effort.

Big Tick for the Ladies

Sunday night saw the Wycombe Ladies team (Katie and Helen, Anna and Hannah) taking up their racquets against Scots Hill. It was a comfortable start for Katie and Helen as they quickly settled into play and took their first rubber. Anna and Hannah had to work a bit harder, but still managed to take victory against what appeared to be Scots Hill's stronger pair.

Katie and Helen were moving together well and quickly started to dominate their second game, and notched another up win. It seemed Anna and Hannah were equally finding form and as they came off court for their second match, Beaconsfield were up 4-0.

And so to the split. Hannah and Helen paired up on one court whilst Katie and Anna took to the other. Each pair quickly settled and began a strong attack, which saw them ultimately take victory all round. An impressive 6-0 to Beaconsfield ladies team. A very BIG first for our ladies - very well done.

Setting the Standards

Fantastic result from the Chalfont Men's team who played last night notching up another win, this time against Scotts Hill. The team was made up of Adam and Chris O, Ajit and Ruwan, and Oli and Alan. Everyone clearly played great games, with only one decider rubber played by Adam and Chris who finally wore the opposition down after some very close scores!

Excellent result guys! Next matches are on Sunday with both the Wycombe Ladies and the Wycombe Mens  playeing at home. Look forward to receiving more results.

Great start for Wycombe Ladies

Last night, the club's Wycombe Ladies team, consisting of Hannah, Anna, Katie and Helen met up at Wycombe Badminton Centre for their opening match against Naphill. The opposition were already well into their season and had been unbeaten so far, our ladies were going to have to dig deep to make their mark.

There were several 3 game deciders during the course of the evening, including one which saw Katie and Helen come back from being down 20-16 to ultimately win at 20-22 and take the rubber. Whilst we didn't notch up a win, we did draw at 3-3 which for an opening salvo was pretty damn good!

So well done ladies, a really positive start to the season!
